Star Days Return to the Discovery Center with an International Space Station Celebration Sept. 5

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Aug. 31, 2015) – The Space Foundation Discovery Center will be spending Labor Day Saturday celebrating life aboard the International Space Station (ISS). With educational and interactive fun for all ages, this day has a little something for everyone.

Various interactions will be available throughout the day to give guests a sampling of what day-to-day life is like aboard the ISS. Guests will be able to use actual mission control software to locate the ISS, and use teamwork to assemble a device in the astronaut glove box. Listen to astronauts speak in the NASA video, “Benefits to Humanity: In Their Own Words.”

The following activities will be included in the cost of admission*:

  • Work like an astronaut in the glove box
  • Create a section of the ISS to take home
  • Watch NASA “Benefits to Humanity: In Their Own Words” videos starring ISS astronauts
  • Try our Space Walk Course
  • Track the ISS
  • Tour the ISS with Science On a Sphere®

The national traveling exhibit “Great Balls of Fire: Comets, Asteroids and Meteors” will be leaving Sept. 12 for its next destination, making this the perfect day to stop in and experience this hands-on exhibit.

“Star Days,” sponsored in part by Raytheon, are held one Saturday each month with a special space theme. These days are filled with extra activities appropriate for all ages.
