COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 10, 2014) - The Board of Directors of the Space Foundation has unanimously selected Jean-Jacques Dordain, Director General of the European Space Agency (ESA), as the 2015 recipient of its highest honor -- the General James E. Hill Lifetime Space Achievement Award.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 8, 2014) - The Board of Directors of the Space Foundation has elected Lt. Col. Shelli Brunswick, USAF, (Ret.), as Chief Operating Officer, effective Jan. 12, 2015. Brunswick assumes responsibility for Space Foundation operations, processes, and facilities, reporting to Chief Executive Officer Elliot H. Pulham.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Dec. 1, 2014) - Thanks to a grant from Lockheed Martin, more than 600 students at 19 Title 1 schools in Colorado will be able to visit the Space Foundation's Discovery Center in Colorado Springs this school year. Title 1 schools serve high concentrations of low-income, at-risk and under-represented families, and are schools that likely would not otherwise have the resources available to give their students a unique educational experience at the Space Foundation Discovery Center.

(Nov. 12, 2014) - After a 10-year journey, Europe's Rosetta spacecraft made history today when its lander Philae successfully attached to its destination, Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The European Space Agency (ESA) launched Rosetta aboard an Ariane 5 launch vehicle in March 2004 out of the space center in Kourou, French Guiana.

Honoring its late, long-time chairman, Gen. James E. Hill, USAF, Ret., the award recognizes outstanding individuals who have distinguished themselves through lifetime contributions to humankind through exploration, development and use of space, or through use of space technology, information or resources in academic, cultural, industrial or other pursuits of broad benefit to humanity.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 17, 2014) — The Space Foundation Discovery Center in Colorado Springs is featuring “Rocketry,” for its Summer of Discovery program July 22 - 26 and July 29 - Aug. 2. Special activities during “Rocketry” include a Girls’ STEM Day on July 23, with free admission for the first 50 girls, thanks to a grant from The Joseph Henry Edmondson Foundation.
