Brigadier General Burkhard Pototzky is the Branch Head Operations of the Air Operations Command, Uedem, Germany. Previously, he was Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the German Air Force Air Operations Command, Kalkar, Germany, and also commanded the Airbase Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan, for ISAF operations. Over the course of his first 30 years in the Air Force, Pototzky had completed countless flight assignments and numerous command tours. In 2002, he was posted to German Air Force Command, Cologne, where he was in charge of Air Force flying operations. He then returned to the MOD as Chief of the Air Staff Concepts and Long-term Developments Branch and Chief of the Operations Concepts & Exercises Branch within the Joint Staff. Pototzky later assumed the position of Chief of Balkan Operations, Joint Commitments Staff, MOD Germany, and took on command of the NATO AWACS Component. He enrolled in the German Air Force in 1975, graduating from its Officer Course in 1976. Pototzky received his Wings in 1978 at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, and completed fighter training at George Air Force Base, California, in 1979.
