
John Goolgasian, III, is the Director of NGA's Source Operations and Management Directorate. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Deputy Director. Previously, Goolgasian was the Director of the Foundation GEOINT Group in Source. He served in two successive roles leading the implementation of the NGA Vision, first as Deputy Lead for the Online GEOINT Services Strategic Initiative and then Implementation Lead for Analytic Depth. Since starting his government career as a cartographer with the Defense Mapping Agency, Goolgasian has served many assignments, to include Branch Chief of the Spatial Analysis Branch of NIMA’s Office of Counterterrorism; Deputy Division Chief of the Iraq and Arabian Peninsula Division; Senior Advisor for Geospatial Analysis to NGA's Analysis and Production Directorate; Deputy Director and Director of the Office of Americas, later achieving Senior status; and Director of the Office of Counterterrorism, where he was a loaned executive to the US Coast Guard as the Senior Advisor to the Assistant Commandant for Intelligence and Criminal Investigation. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography from Mary Washington College at Fredericksburg, Virginia, and a Post Graduate Intelligence Program Degree in Strategic Intelligence from the Joint Military Intelligence College.
