Michael Gass currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Space Foundation. He was formerly the president and chief executive officer of United Launch Alliance. In this role, Gass served as the principal strategic leader of the organization and oversaw all business management and operations. Prior to that, he served as vice president and general manager of Space Transportation for Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, responsible for the Atlas, Titan and Advanced Space Transportation product lines and all space launch activity. Prior to this assignment, Gass served in a variety of operational and management positions for Lockheed Martin Space Systems, including vice president of the Atlas launch vehicle program and vice president of Production and Materiel Operations. He previously served in a number of management positions with General Dynamics before its Space Systems Division was acquired by Martin Marietta, which later merged with the Lockheed Corporation to become Lockheed Martin Corporation. Gass has a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering from Lehigh University, and a master’s degree in management from the Sloan Fellows Program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
